Plan to shop for some of your food (snacks, etc.), your own personal effects (i.e. dish soap, laundry detergent, personal needs, toilet paper, etc.) and your own transportation. The closest small town is 3 miles, Hico, TX, and the closest larger town is 20 miles, Stephenville, TX. It is important that you can get along in a shared living environment, be self motivated and encouraging to others; there is a "no drama" rule on the farm.
All farm students participate in any and all farm needs. We all jump in when help is needed on the farm.
Depending on your interest, we can incorporate specific venues that fit the term of your learning experience on our farm. I.e. growing broilers or rabbits for one full season
You should gain a well rounded idea of operating a sustainable farm while you are here. Interns will also have the opportunity to work at a 3000 acre partnering ranch that focuses on special events, summer camps, and horse breeding.
